Dr Thorsten Thiel

Dr. Thorsten Thiel is a senior political science researcher and head of “Research Group 12: Democracy and Digitalisation” at the Weizenbaum Institute. Before joining the Weizenbaum Institute, he was coordinator of the Leibniz Research Network “Crises of a Globalized World” (2013–2017) and postdoctoral fellow at the Frankfurt Cluster of Excellence "The Formation of Normative Orders" (2010–2013). In the winter semester 2015/2016, he represented the Chair of Political Theory and History of Ideas at the University of Trier. Thorsten Thiel received his doctorate as a member of the “Constitution Beyond the State” research training group (2006–2010), writing a thesis on the discourse of democracy in the European Union.
