Privacy and Data Protection Policy
The Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society is the publishing institution behind Internet Policy Review. As such, all data processing occurs according to its data protection policy.
Jörg Pohle acts as the organisation’s Data Protection Officer (DPO); you can reach him at:
Alexander von Humboldt Institut für Internet und Gesellschaft gGmbH (HIIG)
Französische Straße 9
Tel.: +49 30 2007 6082
In addition to the practices described in the HIIG data protection policy, Internet Policy Review also does the following:
- In order to register Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) for each research article, it transmits the names of authors to the da|ra Registration agency for social and economic data.
- In order to enter research articles into the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), it transmits the authors’ names and institutional affiliations.
- For general archiving, indexing, and interoperability purposes, Internet Policy Review offers an OAI-PMH interface (Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) with article-level metadata containing the authors’ names. OpenAIRE harvests this information and third parties are free to do so as well.
- In order to get information on the number of times a particular article has been cited, and in order for the journal to be indexed in the Web of Science™ Emerging Sources Citation Index, Clarivate Analytics retrieves the names of authors for each article.
