In addition to the practices described in the HIIG data protection policy, Internet Policy Review also does the following:

• In order to register Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) for each research article, it transmits the names of authors to the da|ra Registration agency for social and economic data.
• In order to enter research articles into the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), it transmits the authors’ names and institutional affiliations.
• For general archiving, indexing, and interoperability purposes, Internet Policy Review offers an OAI-PMH interface (Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) with article-level metadata containing the authors’ names. OpenAIRE harvests this information and third parties are free to do so as well.
• In order to get information on the number of times a particular article has been cited, and in order for the journal to be indexed in the Web of Science™ Emerging Sources Citation Index, Clarivate Analytics retrieves the names of authors for each article.
