Stefan Baack is a PhD student at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands and a research fellow at the Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society, Berlin. He studied Media Culture at the University of Bremen and wrote his thesis about the German open data movement.

His research is about the interconnections between hackers and data journalists and the related effects of ‘datafication’, the ongoing and increasingly ubiquitous quantification and categorisation of culture and society.
