Information

Saskia Sell is a research associate in the Journalism Studies Division of FU Berlin's Institute for Media and Communication Studies. She previously worked in continuing education programmes for journalists from the United States, Russia and Eastern Europe at the International Center for Journalism. Her current research is concerned with public negotiation processes of freedom of communication, focusing on press freedom and internet freedom. She has also worked on the issue of anonymity in the public sphere. In 2014, she was a visiting researcher at the Department of Media and Communication of the University of Oslo, which has a research endeavour on "democracy and freedom of expression in the media". She holds a Master's degree in Media and Communication Studies and English and American Studies and has studied at Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, Freie Universität Berlin, the University of Warwick/Coventry (UK) and NYU New York, supported by the European Union and Humboldt fellowship programmes. She is currently pursuing her doctorate at FU, under the supervision of Prof. Margreth Lünenborg.
