Nicolas Friederici is Senior Researcher and Lead of the Platform Alternatives project at the Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society (HIIG). He studies how economic development happens in the digital age, and how the opportunities of digital technologies unfold unevenly across the world. His recent work focused on digital entrepreneurship in Africa, resulting in a book published by MIT Press. Before HIIG, Nicolas was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Oxford Internet Institute (OII), visiting researcher in Stanford, and Mobile Innovation Associate at the World Bank.
