Laura Carter is a PhD student in the Human Rights, Big Data and Technology Project at the University of Essex. Her research looks at the role of gender stereotypes in data-driven decision-making in the public sector, and the potential human rights impact. Laura also works as a researcher and policy advisor in Amnesty International’s Gender, Sexuality and Identity programme. She holds an MA in Gender Studies from SOAS, University of London, and a BA in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge.
