Dr Karolin Eva Kappler is a researcher at the DFG-funded project “Taxonomies of the Self: Emergence and social generalization of calculative practices in the field of self-inspection” at the University of Hagen. She teaches at the University of Wuppertal (BUW) and the Open University of Catalonia and collaborates with European research institutes, such as the Technology Centre of Catalonia. She is currently the director of the COBAWU Institute in Wuppertal. She has published numerous articles in journals and books on the topics of social media, self-tracking, big data, calculative practices, network analysis, and violence in everyday life. Her post-doctoral project focuses on these aspects of artificial intelligence.
