Dr. Julia Pohle is a senior researcher in the research group "Politics of Digitalization" at the WZB Berlin Social Science Center. Her research and publications focus on global and national internet policy, internet governance and the history of global communication politics. Julia holds a PhD in Communication Studies from Vrije Universiteit Brussel and an MA in Cultural Studies, Philosophy and Computer Science from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. She is an alumnus of the Global Governance Futures Program, and previously worked at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris and at SMIT, the Center for Studies in Media, Innovation and Technology, in Brussels. Among other academic roles, Julia currently serves as co-chair for the Communication Policy &Technology Section (CPT) of the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR), on the Editorial Board of Media and Communication, and on the Steering Committee of the Internet Governance Forum Germany (IGF-D). Julia has joined Internet Policy Review's editorial team in 2020.
