Hannfried Leisterer studied law at Freie Universität and Humboldt-Universität in Berlin. During his studies he focused on European and International law as well as on antitrust law and data privacy law. He studied abroad in Riga and Moscow. He is a DFG research student at the research training group "Multilevel Constitutionalism: European Experiences and Global Perspectives".

Hannfried Leisterer is a PhD candidate at Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society since October 2013. As a member of the Network for Civil Security Law in Europe, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, he examines the security of critical information infrastructure in Europe for his doctoral thesis.
