Garfield Benjamin is Assistant Teaching Professor in AI Ethics and Society at the University of Cambridge. Their research focuses on power and inequalities in technologies through the lens of queer performativity. This work focuses on the norms and roles embedded within AI, data, privacy and algorithms, including issues of policy, protest and platforms. Garfield has published in Internet Policy Review and Surveillance & Society, among others, and their most recent book Mistrust Issues: How Technology Discourses Quantify, Extract and Legitimise Inequalities was released by Bristol University Press in 2023.
